Too sick to Blog

Today has been the worst day so far. Have felt like throwing up all day. Almost had to pull the car over on my way to Bayshore...had a big fat poutine once I got there. Surprisingly that didn't help!! Kayvan and I tried to go to a movie tonight, but halfway there I decided that the big screen would make my nausea worse and that was the end of that!! I have bought some wrist bands for travel sickness and I think they may have brought me some release tonight. I actually managed to go for a 45 min walk...the first since becoming prego. Fingers crossed that these bands help over the next little while, as I don't know how many days like today I can handle. I know I said I wouldn't complain...!!! Easier said than done!

7 to 10 Days

The blood work will take 7 to 10 days so I can't go back until then. Work is being incredibly supportive and are taking it very seriously. I am sad about not being with the kids, but I'm not willing to risk anything at this point. I will have a lot more time on my hands...maybe more frequent blogging!!

An Intersting Twist

Well it seems that I do have some followers, so I will continue to babble!!

I was rushed out of school this morning, as it was reported that there was a case of Fifths Disease in the school. I didn't even have a chance to write down my plans or talk to the children, I was dragged out 911 style! Apparently Fifths is very dangerous to the fetus if you are not immune to it. I haven't had the test yet, so I don't know. I am trying to get into the clinic so that I can get the blood test and figure this out. Until then I can't return to school. This is a major pain in the butt, as although at first glance a few days off sounds nice, it comes out of my sick days and I have used a lot of those this year. There is the option of being placed in another school to do supply work, but this does not appeal to me AT ALL. June is the best month of the year to be a teacher. It is very laid back, you start packing up your room, lots of fun activities with the kids...the last thing I want to do is spend June at another school. Well, we will see. I will keep you all posted!

Gingerale and Soda Crackers

Feeling very pregnant today. Trying not to concentrate too hard on the fact that I want to throw up! I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones who didn't get sick...I guess not! Deep breaths and lots of busy work for the children!

So, I must say that writing a blog is a lot like writing an email to all your loved ones and not getting any responses!! It is very weird. But I saw Shannon this weekend and she assured me that she checks it at least once a day, so Shannon, at least I know you are out there reading it!!!

We had Laura's Bachelorette this weekend. It was a great time! We started with a picnic lunch in the Gatineaus, followed by a hike (I skipped this part, don't worry) and then a champagne toast overlooking the park where Laura read a beautiful letter from her husband-to-be. It was a very special moment! Then we went to our hotel downtown Ottawa where a variety of friends joined us for laughs, drinks (again, I skipped this part, don't worry!) swimming and pizza. Shannon had baby Hudson and Kristin had baby Leah. They were little angels and made the evening even more special! Then a handful of the girls without babies (either born or in utero) headed out to the bar where Laura and Shane had their first kiss! Shane was there, the kiss was reenacted and a great time was had by all! Hopefully Laura has made a full recovery by this morning!

Hope everyone has a great day!

FAT!

I'm thinking that all that organ development is tiring work. I am feeling quite tired today and faintly queasy. Not enough to complain about, but that is all I really have to report. Pregnancy blog could be somewhat boring for awhile! While I am happy to not really have any symptoms, I can't help but think it would be relieving to have a good puke or fall asleep in class!! Then there would be no doubt!!

I went into Jacob the other day to pick up a pair of pants because, as you know, my current ones are really cutting into my bloated stomach. I was very sensible and grabbed a pair that was a full size up from what I usually wear. I went into the change room smiling, thinking how nice it would be to wear a nice baggy, loose fitting pair of pants. Well, lets just say I came out scowling and marched straight out of the store. I couldn't even do them up!!!! There is NO excuse for this!! How in the world can I already be getting big? Unfortunately it CAN NOT be blamed on the 1mm fetus inside me!!! Kayvan offered to cut my pajamas the other night until we could find time to get new ones. Please! This is insane!!! I must start walking and I must stop eating so many sweets...or else!!

Long Day

Just got back from a full day field trip to Upper Canada Village. What a perfect day for it!

So I am officially 5 weeks today. That is because they count from the first day of your last period. I was absolutely blown away to learn that the baby(ies) (all 1.24mm of it/them) are doing all kinds of growing this week. The nervous system, brain and reproductive system is starting to develop, facial features are starting to form and the fetal heart will begin to beat by the end of the week! How crazy is that?!

Wih all this srowing going on I better get home to sleep now... :)
